On Saturday April 2 and Monday April 4 we had the great honor of hosting the Tracy Rodgers Memorial Baseball Tournament. We had some great area teams join us including: Byhalia, H.W. Byers, & Rossville, for this very special event. Along with honoring Tracy Rodgers, who was killed in a tragic car accident in 1979 as a Junior at Marshall Academy, we also honored Lane Rodgers who was killed leaving the ball field this past summer at the age of 10. Saturday we had the privilege of being joined by many members of the Rodgers family for a great day of baseball.Pictured (l to r) John Rodgers, Steve Rodgers, Whitt Rodgers, Thomas Rodgers, Ted Rodgers, Judy Rodgers, Vickie Rodgers, Susan Rodgers, Terry Rodgers, Betty Rodgers, and Tommy Rodgers.
Monday, April 4 the Marshall Academy Patriots hosted the championship game, for the Tracy Rodgers Memorial Tournament, against H.W. Byers. It was a beautiful afternoon for baseball. A special pre-game ceremony was held honoring 10 year old Lane Rodgers who died this past summer tragically while leaving the ball park. Lane was an outstanding youth baseball player for the Mid-South Storm Team. His teammates, and Lane’s family, participated in Monday’s pregame ceremony. “If you Didn’t Come to Get Dirty, you Should’ve Paid to Get In.” -Lane Rodgers
